“Success Through a Positive Attitude with Strong Core Values based on a Firm Foundation”
The most important issue this nation faces today is it is losing its moral compass and close knit family circles. There are many reasons for the current state of our nation. Many people are easily influenced by political agendas/decisions, public events, or peer pressure from both inside and outside the family circles. Today, many people have almost forgotten God and the importance of having a deep relationship with Him as well as developing and maintaining close knit families with strong core values based on God’s word. The importance of Christian based Leadership in the home is being diminished or is frequently nonexistent and is a major contributor to many of the problems and suffering family’s experience. Christian leadership is often frowned upon and is considered out of vogue in today’s society.
In today's world, broken homes are common place. Many people want to develop their own set of core values or behavior standards (rules to live by) that they feel justifies their actions without giving a lot of thought to potential consequences to the choices and decisions they make in life. Unfortunately the consequences of their actions (choices and decisions) can have a devastating impact on themselves, their families, and their communities.
Many people I come in contact who are struggling in life are from broken homes with only one parent or no parents and some don’t know either one. And have never experienced the love and security provided by a family background with strong core values based on a firm foundation. They feel they have no hope, and for many different reasons. Many blame someone else, their parents their friends, or society as a whole. And many feel they are being kept in slavery simply because they are from a particular culture or because they are poor. OR they have been wrongly accused and the judicial system is against them. They feel they have no hope. Why make any effort at all to improve yourself. You’re just going to get knocked back down. Society is against us, so why try.
This attitude (feeling or emotion) is often times used as a crutch to support their current mindset and position in life. Many have simply never been taught the difference between right and wrong. Many have never been introduced to God’s word in a meaningful way. They have little knowledge as to how to conduct themselves, rules to live by. And they have little knowledge as to how to conduct themselves in personal relationships, other than what they have been exposed to through observing their parents, their families and people they have surrounded themselves with.
In summary, it comes down to weak or nonexistence of Strong Core values, no Firm Foundation built on the inerrant Word of God, no understanding of proper boundaries or how to establish and manage them, and little understanding regarding their position as leaders and/or role models in families.
Choices and decisions are made on what they perceive as gain without thinking about the potential consequences, be it short or long term. Unfortunately, their behavior and belief systems, their core values, are observed by children and others who look up to them as role models and people of authority. Those same behavioral patterns become generational as they are passed from one generation to another, placing an ever increasing burden on society to pick up the bill. Thus nothing has changed and history continues to repeat itself.
What it’s about:
The Life Skills Ministry program focuses on providing people who are struggling with wrongful behavior, tools to assist them in making substantive changes in their approach to life. It is a program that focuses on identifying problems and their root cause, how to make significant changes in their behavior/life style, understand the effort required to change, and understand the benefits or cost of making changes and the consequences of not making changes. It emphasizes the importance of developing and maintaining personal relationships through a strong self-image, positive attitudes, strengthening personal communications and motivation, understanding how to manage conflict in their personal lives, and to develop and strengthen a personal relationship with God.
A call to action:
I strongly urge all who hear this message to take stock of your lives. Examine your attitudes. What and who motivates or inspires you? Examine what areas of your life change needs to occur and have the faith strength, and courage to make them.
Joshua 1: 9
9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
